Our homework folder came home today!  There are sight words students can cut out to make flash cards.  (Students should be able to read, write and spell these words so be sure writing and spelling the words is part of their practice.) Students also have a book that is a just right fit for them.  They can practice reading with you each night, then have the student fill in the reading log and you can initial.  Homework should be quick and not be a difficult time! Please let me know if you have any questions!

Happy Friday families!

I wanted to let you know that our kiddos had their first Compass Cash trade in for special 

rewards today!  The class was very excited!  You'll be seeing some different rewards

come home tonight.  

The morning students can use their reward, I have asked them to turn them in first thing

when they arrive.  Just wanted you to know in case your student

asks about bringing a stuffed animal or wearing socks or something that sounds silly!!

We've had a super week in First grade.  I'll have our usual Monday post out next week!

*Homework*

I saved our homework to start until our first full week.  This note will be in your students 

agenda next week!

Your child will bring home his or her homework folder for the first time this week. 
Here is what you need to know!

- The folder will go home every Monday and should stay home until it is returned on Fridays.

- For now your child will only have sight words for homework.  Please keep all of the week's sight words in the bag inside the folder.  This bag will grow as we add each week's sight words.  Your child will receive a new bag once we are ready to move on to a new list.  While I will only assess your child on the newest sight words each week, please continue to practice reading AND writing all words inside the bag.

- I will send home "just right" books for your child's reading level once that has been determined.  For now continue reading anything that suits your child's interest at home!

My oldest Reid started preschool!

I'll be sending home students PURPLE homework folders next Monday (September 9).  This folder

has their sight words, and a weekly book enclosed.  There are tips for reading with your 

students also in the folder.  Please return the PURPLE folder on Fridays for new words

and a new weekly reader.
