Hi families!

I hope everyone was able to enjoy the few nice days we had before the chill came in last night!

For our field trip tomorrow please have students wear their blue Wellington shirt, or another Wellington shirt from Kindergarten is great too.  We will be back to school in time for lunch at school, just a little later than our usual lunch time so we will eat in the classroom.  Students can bring their normal lunch bags.

In math we're working on 2 digit subtraction this week.  87-15 = ___ is an example.  Students are really doing great with this!  Continue to check students agendas at night - we write a simple homework question there so you'll see some things we are working on in class!

In writing, students have started their new writing piece where they are writing a fictional narrative.  These are looking very interesting!

Here are some great pictures from our wonderful field trip to the Explorium last week!  Our class had a wonderful time!

Hi families!

In your students folder they have two permission slips.  One is for a field trip we're taking to see Elephant and Piggy and the other is for a guest reader who will be bringing with them a dog (see the yellow form for more details).  We're excited for these upcoming events in First Grade!

Continue to read each night at home - your students are making so much growth with their reading and writing!!  Sight words are also so important to practice.  Here are some tools for practicing sight words at home:

I have a great new website with skills to practice in both reading and math.  Students will get their log ins tomorrow so if you'd like to work on some skills at home this will be a great place to visit for students.  Click HERE to access IXL - students will have their log in information tomorrow to bring home with them.

I love seeing pictures of my little readers at home so I thought I would share some that parents have sent me!  Send me pictures and I'll add them to our blog!

Ben hard at work on his reading!

Zoe reading her stack of books :)

Here are some photos of some of our young mathematicians hard at work breaking apart numbers during calendar!

Hello families!

I sent out an email earlier today with information about our Valentine's day celebration.  If you would be available on Wednesday February 14 to help with some activities we would love to have some helpers.  There are also some supplies we will need for our activities, if you would be able to pick up some of these items it would help our class greatly!

If you would like to make a Valentines box with your student that is great but if you don't want to we will be making a valentines sack for students to use if that is preferred.  I'll have white paper bags available for kiddos to make their valentine bag on Wednesday.

Here is the link with more information SIGN UP information.

Our class had a FUN day painting our life size penguins earlier this week!  Here are some of our pictures.....................

We're using a new reading program at school and students have access at home now too! HERE a link for students.  There is a password - if students can't remember their at home let me know and I can print them another copy of their passwords.  This is a very interactive program that is working on skills we have used that week or the previous week at school.  It has been a great hit in the classroom so I think students will be excited to use it at home too.

We will take our spelling test tomorrow so please remind students to study their words so they are prepared for our test.  Don't forget to read their baggie books nightly and return on Friday so they'll have a new book for the next week.

Thank you all for your wonderful support!  This is such a wonderful group of kiddos to work with!
